C. Sew the Pillow: • Line up, right sides together, pin and stitch the outside edges of the 2 large fabric pieces. Leave a 3” opening to allow for stuffing (D). • Clip corners, turn right side out and press. • With a fabric marking pen, draw lines 1” in from the outside edges, making a square. • Stitch on this line, leaving a 2” opening on the same edge as the first opening (E). • Lightly fill the center section with batting. • Now, carefully finish machine stitching the inside opening closed. • By hand, (page 18) stitch the outside opening edges closed (F).

This makes a pocket for a small spiral notebook with phone numbers (C2). • Draw a line 1 1/2” in towards the center from your stitching line. This makes a pocket for your pen or pencil (C3). • The remaining pocket in the middle is to place your portable or cell phone. like a trifold wallet. • Cut ribbon in half and attach one end to the top edge and the other ribbon to the backside of the cover where the two ribbons meet. • Tie together to keep contents enclosed (D). 5” D. A. Sew the Bonnet: • Zig zag one long edge. Stitch the pregathered lace to this edge, right sides together. • Fold the seam under and topstitch to hold the lace in place. • Press under the short sides, at 1/4” and then again at 1/4”. • Stitch next to the inside fold. • On the other long edge, turn under and press 1/4”, then again 1/2” (A). • Stitch next to the fold to form the ribbon casing. • With washout marking pen, mark a line 2” from the back ribbon casing. • Stitch a very small tuck, 1/8”, on the wrong side of the bonnet, on this line.
